Mom
Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
I see your smile, I see your face
I hear you laughing in the rain
I still can't believe you are gone
It ain't fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God know how I miss you
All the hell I've been through
Just knowing no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder who you'd be today
Would you see the world, would you chase your dreams
Settle down with a family
I wonder what you would name your babies
Some days the sky's so blue
I feel like I can talk to you
I know it might sound crazy
Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know I'll see you again someday
Someday, someday
Who You'd Be Today

Maybe half way through our high school Italy trip we were in Florence. We had learned that Galileo's tomb was in a nearby church and I really wanted to see it. I didn't know Jordan that well before the Italy trip but I knew that he was a history nerd and that it probably wouldn't take much to convince him to find this church. Sure enough, I explained where I wanted to go and he was on board. We found the church saw the tomb but then quickly became lost in Florence trying to find our way back to the hotel. After walking in circles (Jordan would insist he knew where we were going the whole time) we found the tour guide who led us back to the hotel. That's when I first realized I had to become friends with Jordan. I knew he would always be up for a random adventure.

I remember in 2008 shortly before the presidential election, Jordan was chosen to be the moderator/question asker of a mock presidential debate that we had.
I remember his passion for politics and debating as he grilled us with some of the toughest questions I have ever had to answer on the spot.
He was so full of interest and focus that he completely embodied the role and ended up being the most enjoyable part of the debate.

Jordan is so excited for Christmas and wants at least "3" presents! Jordan is doing well in school and he loves his sister, Madison---he took her picture to school for show-and-tell when the theme was, "What I thank God for." He still has a bit of a sassy attitude and he is very strong willed! Everyone calls him motor-mouth 'cause he can't stop talking!!!

Today was your last day of 1st grade. It has been a tough year for you 'cause you didn't like school this year. Last year (Kindergarten) was so fun for you, but you had a hard time this year adjusting to the whole day thing. (You said you missed your mom and dad too much). What can I tell you? You are a delight---extremely gifted (a 4.0 GPA this last semester). You are a gifted reader and writer. You remain a very caring and concerned little boy and you still tend to be a little bossy!! Perfection is your middle name.
Jordan, I love you with all my heart. I am so lucky you are my son!!
